Can cats have cheese?

My cat Caesar likes Cheese-nips. I put one under his nose just to see his reaction and he started to lick it and then ate it! Then my boyfriend's kitten Max, nearly jumped in the bowl of nacho cheese doritos. He licked all the flavor off the chip and ate half of it. Is it okay for them to have? Cuz I know it's bad to give them milk sometimes. And no, we do not give them doritos and cheese nips every day.
