Has anyone here ever had gastric byp surgery.?

My mother in law is considered to be 100 pounds over weight. That is what her doctor told her. She has a lot of health problems due to her weight. She has diabetes and high blood pressure. We are really worried about her. Has anyone had gastric byp surgery, and were you happy with the results. Any tips on convincing her it is right for her would really help.
